SASSA Grant Cancellation Application Process

SASSA Grant Cancellation Application Process

If your financial status starts to improve gradually and you can easily sponsor yourself without receiving a SASSA grant, you can cancel it easily or give another deserving person a chance. However, if you have a new business or government job or plan to seek another financial grant, canceling ensures that the aid goes to someone in greater need.

The cancellation process is simple and can be done online using your smartphone or computer. Just visit the SASSA website, fill out the cancellation form, and follow a few easy steps. Once completed, your grant will be officially canceled, and you’ll receive confirmation.

It is perfectly reasonable to terminate a grant every time you are in a better position financially, on top of the fact that the government can redistribute grants to those who require it more in their present circumstances. Thus, by taking this step, you help to make Social Assistance more fairly distributed in South Africa. So let your hair down, here is a complete instruction for SASSA applicants in 2024;

Enter Your Details: Once the cancellation page is open, provide the ID number and phone number that you used when you first registered for the grant.

Request an OTP (One-Time PIN): After entering your details, click on the “Send PIN” button. In a few moments, you will receive an SMS containing an OTP on your registered phone number.

Enter the OTP: Input the OTP into the designated field. After verifying, you’ll be redirected to a new screen.

Select ‘Cancel My SASSA Grant’: On the new screen, look for the “Cancel My SASSA Grant” option and click it.

Confirm the Cancellation: A message will pop up asking if you’re sure you want to cancel. Select “YES” to finalize the cancellation or “Cancel” if you want to stop the process. Once you’ve confirmed, you’ll receive a message on your phone confirming that your grant has been successfully canceled.

After completing these steps, you can perform a SASSA status check to ensure your grant has been properly canceled.

NOTE: To my mind, there are several criteria for canceling your SASSA grant. So, if you’re struggling which means your business or job is not done properly then never cancel your SASSA grant. So, the good practice is to take 3 months to cancel your grant because in this period you will examine accurately how your life is going without the grant.
